Shall We Dance

Each day I pass
Your window
You looking out
Into the distance
Me heading home from work
Enclosed in the front seat
A moment of perceived
Not noticing
The familiar faces
Driving familiar cars
Along familiar streets
I find myself
Tracing your thoughts
Wondering where
They may lead
To some forgotten lover
Washed away in the ache
That remains dormant
Within all love
Your melancholy eyes
Melt the window
As I gaze
Into their heat
So passionate
I float to your side
In a dream-state
So real I can smell
Your skin's softness
And taste your pain
In my own heart
Can I ever return
To the front seat
Of that aloneness
