Story Untold

I loved her in high school but she never ever knew
I never let her know I could never tell her so
Knowing that I loved her would hurt me even more
I would shatter into pieces like humpty on the floor

Some things you gotta let go
Some things you should never know
Like a story untold
Never unfolds

I saw her yesterday it’s been so very long
So many years ago and my love is still so strong
I wanted to tell her that I loved her but it seemed so very wrong
I could have walked on over and then she would have known

Some things you gotta let go
Some things you should never know
Like a story untold
Never unfolds

If she knew I loved her I would shatter into the wind
All the Kings men and horses couldn’t put me together again

Some things you gotta let go
Some things you should never know
Like a story untold
Never unfolds

Standing there next to her he reached out for her hand
So soft and so supple she wore a golden band
She looked so very happy if only he were me
I wouldn’t have to hide my eyes I could end this fantasy

Some things you gotta let go
Some things you should never know
Like a story untold
Never unfolds
