Chrome Sphinx

The signal red motion stops
i wait beyond the cross
A woman moves with cart

A chrome sphinx filled with
Riddles and rhymes procured from
A lot or some likely spot

Her hair tattered and frayed
Clothing torn well worn
Yet another day

She moves from left to right
In front view i see a face
A face is that you

Her riddles and rhymes
They seem to hide the pain
But not the eyes

i stare she glares
Her riddles and rhymes
i can not bear

i look away nothing to say
Her riddles and rhymes
Will never ease my pain

The metallic lion moves
Beneath a weary head
(how long how long
Until you're dead)

This image half woman
Half beast moves stealthily
Through the streets

Forcing to each she meets
A riddle or rhyme
A deadly sign

Can i afford to look away
Not to say just bow
My head and pray

She moves from left to right
In front view i see a face
A face is that you

Her riddles and rhymes
Move in and out
Of post-mortem time

As i face the delusions
And all the confusion
Of her psychotic mind

Shall i dare to stare
Or even glare into
Her eyes

Those sunken portals of darkness
That never cry or
Ask why

Will i find in post-mortem time
The answers to her riddles
And rhymes

Or be vaporized into the
Last breath of salvation
As she moans and sighs

Shall i wait
This aberration this dream
Understood as the signal turns green

Moving further and further
In mirrored reflection
Until the reality is beyond perception

This chrome sphinx filled with
Riddles and rhymes fading slowly
Into the distance of time

Lost to the vagueness
Of the morrow might this be
The swiftest way from sorrow

She moves from left to right
In front view i see a face
A face is that you
